    Snowboarding equipment?
I want to start snowboarding as of next winter, since winter 09/10 is pretty much over, and I was wondering which store in Canada has good snowboard equipment for low prices? I have tried SportChek and came to a total of around 500$ for the board, bindings, boots, goggles and helmet. Do you know of anywhere cheaper?
Also, when I buy the bindings for the board, do they need to be from the same company as the board or any bindings will do?

If it is your first time snowboarding and you are only going for a week then hire. If you are staying longer then it might be worth buying.

You might find some cheap deals in London. It probably would be cheaper in Austria. Italy or the Pyrenees tend to be very cheap for ski/snowboard equipment. France tends to have a good range, and is cheaper than UK.

If you have been skiing before then you will have most of the kit required.

My skis were made in Austria.

Everything that is said above is right except for cap toe bindings.

That’s totally optional. They have nothing to do with support. All they do is help push your heel back into your binding better. I don’t like them because they feel like they’re squishing my toes back instead of holdind my toes down. Some people like them and a lot of people don’t.

You can buy bindings where the toe strap is a hybrid so you can either put it over top of your toe or arround your toe like a cap strap. That’s what I use and I tend to put it half way in between.

    Snowboarding Equipment?
Im flying from London to Salzburg in Dec this year. Ive never been snowboarding before and not sure of the most cost effective way to do it. Is it better to hire or buy 2nd hand? Should I get the gear in London or when I arrive in Austria? I doubt I will use the equipment after this trip.

    Thanks!

helmet is not required, but recommended. you can rent a helmet for additional fee, sounds like its your first time, so take a waterproof pants and gloves, goggles, sunglasses, chop stick, lite comfy jacket(preferably water and wind proof)…
AND TAKE A LESSON ON YOUR FIRST DAY, SO YOU COULD IMPROVE YOUR RIDING AND HAVE SOME FUN FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK !

for lift tickets i would look on the mountains website sometimes theres promotional deals. as for equipment, if you dont have any its not really cheap to buy anything decent so you might be best off renting equipment for the day
