Ride as Free as a Bird

As you ride down the mountain with a foot or two of glistening powder under your board, you glide like a free bird, making turns on a whim, but knowing where your final destination is.

When you ride, there are no regrets. You don’t consider anything a mistake. Courage, decisiveness and fearlessness play a huge part of it. Your ride is smooth and your turns are made with ease. Effortlessly you make your way down the mountain, partnering with gravity.

As you lean into your turn, the powder shoots up, hitting the people who are riding on the lift above. Although the cheering of the spectators gives you an additional surge of energy, the applause is unexpected and is just one more source of energy that is being magnetized to you as you flow down the mountain.

You’re in the moment. You’re feeling great! Each moment is total bliss.

Although falling is completely out of your mind, if you do happen to encounter the inevitable, you bounce back up as quickly as you went down. You continue on, as if you never had fallen. When in company, a burst of laughter may follow the dramatic biffs. These mishaps are cherished. Although any pain is quickly forgotten, you automatically register a subconscious note to prevent a recurrence, which hones yours skills.

When riding up on the lift, company and conversation are well received. Conversations are struck up with strangers on the lift, regardless of social or economical status. Jocularly you converse and laugh. Although riding on the lift can be just as fun as gliding down the mountain, it serves as a time to recharge while soaking in the views.

As you soar down the mountain, the expectations of others are irrelevant. Your expectations are the only thing that matters. Your ultimate expectation is to ride as free as a bird, experiencing joy beyond measure, regardless of the conditions.

Although the conditions are not always viewed as optimal, you tend to find where the powder is. But if you don’t, the feelings you get as you ride are incredible, just the same. There’s no place you’d rather be than in that place at that moment.

Like snowboarding, you live life the same way-- riding free as a bird.
